Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome to Cheekee Hero Charity
Cheekee Hero is a whānau-led, grassroots charity dedicated to bringing smiles through the superpowers of tamariki (children).
We uplift tamariki and rangatahi (youth) with diverse abilities through creative, inclusive tools, storytelling, art, and advocacy. Our mahi (work) is deeply rooted in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring that neurodiverse, disabled, and health-challenged children have equitable opportunities to thrive.
Our impact is driven by our super robot, Cheekee, who inspires tamariki to see that neurodiversity, disability, and illness can be powerful forces for positive change. This reflects the principle of Tino Rangatiratanga (Self-determination), empowering children and their whānau to celebrate their identities and strengths.
Our slogan, "Make Change FUNNER," embodies our purpose-driven approach to storytelling, resilience, and the unwavering determination of children to experience joy.
As an Aotearoa-based charity, we are committed to upholding kaupapa Māori principles and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, has the support, recognition, and opportunities they deserve.

"I was introduced to Cheekee Hero, as part of my project and placemaking work for the Orakei Local Board, supporting local community groups with their projects. Jazz and her whanau are an inspiration, not only in meeting their own challenges, but with their passion and energy to help and make a difference to other families on the same journey. It was wonderful seeing the local Community supporting Cheekee Hero, fundraising to give back to the Child Cancer Foundation, by volunteering for the National Street Appeal - it was an awesome day! It is a pleasure and a privilege to support Cheekee Hero on this and other projects as they continue to shine a light on child cancer. Glow gold!"
