If you've ever looked for an excuse to eat Italian ice cream for breakfast, then February 18th is the perfect day!
Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is an annual childhood cancer awareness global event. It has reached our sunny shores of Aotearoa, New Zealand, and this year Cheekee Hero has teamed up with the very cool Island Gelato Co. to eat Italian ice cream for breakfast "for one life-changing reason. Kids get cancer too, but they are still kids."
Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day was created by 2 fierce childhood cancer advocates from Minnesota, USA, Annette Peterson, and Alisa Matheson in 2013.
"Malia Grace Peterson was born on February 18, 2001 and left this earth for the joy of heaven while sleeping on December 7, 2010. The 9 years in between those dates was a lifetime in which she touched countless lives with her energy, humor, laughter and hugs.
Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast day falls on Malia’s birthday and is run by her Mom and Aunt. We do what we do for the love of Malia."
Lock this day in your calendar and eat Italian ice cream for breakfast with Cheekee Hero and Island Gelato Co.
'Founded on Waiheke Island in 2014, Island Gelato Co has many award-winning flavours. This year, the company earned gold medals in the NZ Ice Cream and Gelato Awards for its tamarillo; Pic’s peanut butter caramel; gin with grapefruit and yuzu, and more. It’s company just opened a new location in Mission Bay, right by the eastern suburb’s famously golden beaches and balmy, family-friendly waters.'
